Latinx Mental Health Directory

Latinas Rising encourages mental health care and wellness. If  you or a love one are in crisis and/or in need of mental health care you will find helpful links below. We’ve also included local mental health providers that are specifically for black and brown communities. Our team will continue to update the page with resources and information on mental health trends affecting our communities. Latinas Rising offers the following tips to understanding the therapeutic process, things to consider, and a list of Latinx and other minority therapist in and/or around the Houston area.  Latinas Rising recognizes the journey towards healing can be uncomfortable, but it can be a little less tasking when you have a therapist that is empathic, culturally competent, and looks like you. We like to share the following:

TIP 1

¿Qué es la terapia

Terapia is the psychological treatment of disorders rather than medical. No, Pues Wow! Treating the whole self person requires care beyond visiting a medical doctor for those “nervios.”

TIP 2

Un buen terapeuta es:

A good therapist is empathic, ask good questions, maintain confidentiality, they’re updated on research, and do a good job at listening.
